Working Bee – Charles Darwin National Park

03/03/2014 by Ian

What:  Weed Management
Where: Charles Darwin National Park
When:  10am Sunday 9 March

Rowie has been doing some great work with Parks and Wildlife with weed spraying in Charles Darwin National Park.  Now she needs your help.

10am on Sunday 9th March, (this’ll give you time for an early morning ride) for a few hours of weed-wacking and spraying.

Let us know in the comments below if you’re keen, we can bring the equipment. If you have your own backpack sprayers, or brushcutters or, even better! We will have the herbicide (Roundup).

The DORC committee do a lot behind the scenes to make sure MTBers get to ride trails, have races, etc, so it would be good to have some other volunteers other than the committee members.
If you don’t like herbicides, and you have whpper snippers and want to whipper snip, there are jobs for you too!
Following the hard work, a few volunteers may be heading off to the Waterfront for a cool off swim, then maybe lunch / beer.  Seems like a great way to spend a Sunday.

Hi, I’m planning to come along on Sunday. I think we should concentrate on spraying gamba as opposed to slashing though as it grows back quickly this time of year if slashed.
