Trailforks

Trailforks Map

Darwin Off-Road Cyclists now use Trailforks as our provider of mapping and trail information.

Trailforks is a trail management system for outdoor enthusiasts, trail builders/associations, government and tourism.

Trailforks is a crowd-sourced database which users help grow and maintain by submitting new trails, updating existing trails, submitting reports on trails and logging their rides. Users can also add photos & videos which are tagged to trails found on the website.

Available as an app for your favourite mobile device, it also works offline. Download offline trail maps for your rides. Always have the latest trail info including trail status & conditions in your pocket!

There’s heaps it can do.  Including upload rides, the Trailforks app will sync with Strava.  If you encounter a problem on a trail, take a photo and upload it to Trailforks.  Over the next few months we’re going to explore the features available with Trailforks.

    Hello Ian,
I know you are a bit of a tech wizard and for advising members to use the “Trial Forks “ app.
The app, actually reads very usable indeed reading the comments and reviews section on the app.
However, after trying to download the app numerous times onto an iPhone 11- it solely views as “waiting” after waiting 4 hours using a fast wifi connection?
I do not know if I have done anything incorrectly? After waiting 4 hours for it download correctly, I thought I should create an account to enable the download, – but this created problems again – after using several different passwords and user names, it still did not allow me to create an account!?
I gave up after wasting these hours on downloading a 84mb app- that should take seconds- possibly an issue that other iPhone users have witnessed?
    Please let me know?
    Cheers

      HI Peter,
To be honest, you’ve hit on a tech area in which I can’t help. I’m an android user, and although I’ve had the APP on my phone for some time, haven’t really used it against the Top End Trails. This is something I will be rectifying over the next couple of weeks so I have some experience in using Trailforks as part of my riding regime.
Right now, I couldn’t tell you if the problem is with the phone setting, the Apple APP store or the network. It could be any or a combination of those three.
I assume you had wifi activated when trying to install the app, and were connected to wifi. There’s also likely a setting somewhere in the app store to allow you to download apps when NOT connected to wifi.
Beyond that, would it help if I said Have you tried turning it off and on again?
      😉

      Cheers
      Ian

    G’day Ian,

I thank you for your reply and advise contained within.
Yes, it maybe an Apple App issue? As yes wifi was turned on and working all ok. As I was able to use other apps at the time.
Maybe other Apple users will experience the same problem when trying to download this app? A pity as it reads as if it is very useful on the trials.
Let me know how you find it once you use it out on the trials?
As trying to communicate with Apple is similar to banging your head against the wall😂

Hope to hear how you got on with the “trial forks app” after you use it on the trials?

    Cheers
    Peter
