From Keogh Conboy, President.

2020 was an interesting year. With hindsight, Darwin Off-Road Cyclists have fared well compared to other groups. DORC has shown the way in how to run events in the COVID era. As a result, we have seen an increase in interest and demand for Mountain Biking as a safer pasttime and sport.
In particular, there have been many enquiries for support for Junior Mountain Biking.
This is awesome, and we love it, however it’s a double-edged sword. Our success has become our burden.
In short, we cannot do it without you. With our current resources, we are fully stretched meeting the needs of the programs we already run.
Fortunately, timing is in our favour. This Saturday is our Annual General Meeting. This gives us an opportunity to take the time to plan how 2021 will play out. In order to make things happen, there are two key factors: Demand and Resourcing. The demand for junior programs is clear, the resourcing is not. We need your help to proceed.
The structure and format of any junior participation is open and to be determined by the level of interest and enthusiasm – and that will be determined by who is available to help. Of course, there’s a need for an Ochre Card and First Aid qualifications – we can help. We can also help with planning and the benefits of experience in running social rides, training programs and races.
If you have a child you’d like to see participate in club activities, or have an interest in helping out, I urge you to reach out to out to the club, either at the AGM or online.
DORC is entirely run by volunteers, who give their time to build and promote mountain biking in the Darwin area. Make no mistake we are building a success story. We invite you to join us and help build a bigger success story.
