National Volunteers Week

19/05/2020 by Ian

We would like to acknowledge our amazing volunteers.   You know who you are.   Everyone of you.  You ROCK!

Darwin Off-Road Cyclists, like most sporting community groups would simply not survive without volunteers.

You may be surprised exactly how much goes on behind the scenes with this,

Trail Maintenance Charles Darwin National Park 9 July 2019

and every club.

Some of what goes on behind the scenes

  • Race organisers and officials.  There’s heaps that goes into a race event.  Trail marking, first-aid, stocking the supplies, time-keeping, photography, course commissaire time-keepers, results management.
  • Trail crews – both building and maintaining trails, including erosion management and weed control
  • Skills Training
  • Leading Social Rides
  • Meeting with Landholders and Government Stakeholders
  • Applications for Grants and Subsidies
  • Committee Management
  • Managing Financials
  • Keeping everyone informed

All this, and more, is done by a small group of passionate people.

We ask that you do two things

  1. Next time you’re at an organised event, say thanks to the volunteers
  2. Join in, with more people, there’s more we can do

But for now, just thank your volunteers. They Rock.
