Junior MTB Skills Course

Junior MTB 2.5 hour Skills Course

Program and Information

This Junior MTB 2.5 hour Skills Course is aimed at junior riders aged 8-17 years. This course will provide the skills to enable participants to ride safer, faster and smoother. The course is perfect for both beginner riders and those who want to improve or refine their skills. These skills are provided in a safe and supportive environment with qualified skills instructors. Parents/carers are welcome to stay and observe.

Age Range – 8 – 17 years

Duration – 2.5 hours

Location – Old Pine Forest, Howard Springs

Date – Sunday 28/04/19

Time – 8am – 10.30am

Cost – Free of Charge (Participants must be members of MTBA, Mountain Biking Australia and DORC, Darwin Off Road Cyclists)

Places – 8 participants

We will be covering body position, balance, braking and cornering. These will be taught using a variety of methods including game based activities. Learning and improving the fundamental skills will result in immediate gains in riding ability and confidence.

Requirements for the course are:

Mountain bike in good working order

Helmet, full fingered gloves, enclosed shoes and flat pedals (no clips)

Eye Protection

Spare tube/puncture repair kit

Plenty of water

Sunscreen

** Please ensure that bike brakes are working and handlebars have bar ends.
