Fun D Mentals

Mtb Skills Course.

 

This course is for anyone who wants to have fun riding their MTB and improve their mountain bike riding skills.

Whether you are a seasoned rider or just starting out, there is always something we can learn and improve on.

Regardless of your skill level, you will improve your riding by attending one of these courses.

This course is free to DORC (Darwin Off Road Cyclists)/MTBA (Mountain Biking Australia) members and is run by a qualified MTBA level 1 coach who is also a  PMBIA (Professional Mountain Biking Instructor Association)  level 1instructor.

We start with the basics and build on those skills every week, utilising different venues around the Darwin area.

Six Week Training Programme

3rd Sep – 8th Oct 201 Week 1. 3th Sep,  Basic Bike Maintenance, Bike set up, Body position, Easy ride through  the old pine forrest.

 

Week 2. 10th  Sep, Revise week 1, Braking and cornering, easy ride through old pine forrest.

Week 3. 17th Sep, Revise week 2, Wheel lifts,  Negotiating obstacles, easy ride through                                               the new pine forrest.

Week 4. 24th Sep, Revise week 3. Pressure control, Climbing and switchbacks. Easy ride Charles                              Darwin.

Week 5. 1st  Oct, Revise week 4. Drops, Jumps, Stairs and urban obstacles. Urban ride Darwin City.

Week 6. 8th Oct, Culmination of all skills incorporated in a ride at the Hanging rock and etch-a-                                    sketch loops at Humpty Doo.

All sessions will start at 8:00am Sunday and will be two hours in length, except for week six.

Week six will take between two to three hours to complete.

Participants are required to arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that they are ready to start at 8am.

All participants must be DORC/MTBA members to participate.

Basic requirements will be as Follows:

a.         mtb in a safe working condition,

b.         safety gear including Helmet, gloves, shoes and eye protection,

c.         spare tube, puncture repair kit, multi/bike tool, pump,

minimum of 2 litres of drinking water, and;

e.         Proof of current MTBA membership.
