Pete Svara
Bachelor 2005

Nickname: Sphincter - prob not what you're thinking! Just a corruption of my surname- svara, sahara, safari, etc...
Age: 39
Day Job: Respected member of the community, almost a minor deity actually and all round nice guy! (Fire Fighter).
Years Riding MTB: 20 years off and on with more off than on...
Current Bike: Ventana 'El Rey (The King)' 29er with full '07 XTR bling. Way more than my ablility or wallet can justify.
Dream Bike: An XC racer / downhiller with 8" travel made from 'Unobtainium' and weighing about 8kg's. Of course it'll have all the lastest and greatest speed weaponary too!
Worst Bike Ridden: Hmm - soo many over the years! But definitely have to agree with others here that Mark's Huffydale has been the worst!
States/Countries Ridden: NT (Darwin & Alice Springs), SA (Eagle Park & Fox Creek/Cuddley Creek), NSW (Blue Mountains) and ACT (Sparrow Hill, Majura Pines & Cowan Forest).
Favourite MTB Ride:
(NT/Interstate/OS)
Prob the '06 Road Trip - Kyle, Aaron , Ty and myself did the Scott 24hr and then another week of trails in the ACT / NSW coast and Blue Mtns. Great riding with mates although a week in a motorhome was a bit 'close'(4 guys & 3 beds).
Favourite MTB Event:
(NT/Interstate/OS)
CABC (Central Aust Bike Challenge 05&06) in the NT. The Mont/Scott 24hr(05&06) in ACT was great fun too. Especially when Aaron Caden comes in whinging about the mud. What a sook - was only 3am, 2 degrees and raining... Tim Ellison's 'short course racing' is also a winner!
Favourite MTB Track:
(NT/Interstate/OS)
Almost any of the tracks in the Canberra/ACT area. If you get the chance to ride them GO FOR IT!!! Charles Darwin and Pine Forest locally - different styles of riding but both fun. Eagle Park(SA)for hilly technical track - like CD but hills 10x bigger.
Hardest Ride: Usually they are all hard at some point as i have the lung capacity of a dead frog and the endurance of a sloth. Prob rate the big day (95k's)in the CABC'05 as hardest - 40+ temp, not enough water supplies and starting to get dizzy spells, cramps, rash, etc...
Worst MTB Injury:
(When,Where,How,Excuse)
Some nice gravel rash from a fast downhill get off near Charles Darwin a few years ago but my superior ablities (or lack of speed more likely) have prevented worse. Anyway "broken bones heal and chicks dig scars" - off the Simpsons...
Favourite MTB Accessory:
(Anything that makes MTB easier)
Suspension! Too old/too soft for the hardtails.
