The Pine Forest Mystery Pairs Race-22/10/17

It’s a mystery as you will be paired up with someone you potentially have never met before. It’s a mystery because you’ll be riding on a new section in the Pine Forest.

Here’s the format, ENTER (ONLINE ONLY). Your name will be assigned a number, it will then be ran through our mysterious partner generator. You’ll then meet and greet your partner for the day and work out your strategy!! Who will do first lap? Who will trash talk opposing teams? Who’s shout is it for post race beers (or soft drink) and BBQ? All those sorts of important things. The course is approximately 4.6 Km long and each rider will complete 3 laps each. This event is aimed at maximum fun on an achievable course for all levels of riders.

Meeting point will be the corner of Howard springs road and Stow road. Sign on and plate collection at 3:30 PM racing starts at 4:30 PM

DORC will be running a half day clinic for female MTB riders who are interested in riding smoother, faster and with more control.

The course will be run by qualified MTBA, PMBIA instructors and will cover:

a. body position

b. controlled braking

c. trail scanning

d. cornering techniques

You will learn how to:

* use your body position to get more from your bike

* use your brakes more effectively and efficiently

* scan the trail ahead and be prepared for what is coming up

* change direction/corner with more confidence, traction and speed

This clinic is for riders who already have the basics under control and would like to take their riding to the next level.

Riders wishing to attend this course must be over 18 years of age and be members of DORC and MTBA.

The session will cost $50 per person with all proceeds going to DORC.

Places are limited to 8 riders.

Beginners/Novice Ride 1/10/2017

Hey all, Keogh will be leading a Beginners/Novice ride this Sunday the 1st of October
This will be a easy paced ride with plenty of stops aimed at those riders new to riding off road, it will take in the bush tracks around the Leanyer Swamps and a few trails in Holmes Jungle with stops to go over any questions about riding off road you may have, ride distance will be around the 10-15k mark,.
Helmets are a must to participate on this ride, please also ensure you bring enough water to last around 1.5hrs riding and whatever spares you feel you may need.
Meeting spot will be outside the entrance of Leanyer Water Park meet at 4:45pm for a 5:00pm start

Lee Point Nite Ride. Friday 25th August

This Friday meet at the Darwin Surf Club, Casuarina Coastal Reserve @ 6.15pm for a 6.30pm get away. The plan is to head into the Coastal Reserve and ride The Blair Witch Trail and any others that get in our way.

The ride finishes at the Surf Club, where you can grab some dinner or a refreshing beverage. Ride distance will be around 20km maximum, and is suitable for intermediate level riders. Please have adequate lights, water, spares, helmet and snacks.

Blue Cycles 2hr track preview. Sat 19th August

This Saturday afternoon Keogh will be leading a preview ride of the Blue Cycles 2 hour track at Charles Darwin National Park. The ride starts from the Park entrance @5pm, so best be there by 4.45pm. Keogh plans to do a couple of laps the course then flick the rad switch on some of CDNP’s other tracks if your keen. Ride time around 1.5hrs, with lots of stops for talking crap and having a laugh.

Make sure that you have a properly serviced bike, helmet, snacks and spares. And maybe some coins for sneaky drink at the Winnellie Tavern after. And remember “don’t be such a roadie”

Night Rides are back. Wednesday 16th August

After a break over the School Holidays, night rides make a return to the DORC calendar. This week the plan is to cut some laps of CDNP, specifically, Spitfire, 3 Sisters and maybe a lap of the Blue Cycles 2 hour course (if Keogh shows up and tells me where to go).

Meet at the Winnellie Tavern carpark (rear) at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start. Lights, helmet, water and spares are required. This ride is not suited to beginners. Refreshing beverages available at the Winnellie Tavern following the ride. Might also be a good idea to bring some insect repellant.

Blue Cycles SATURDAY Session-2/9/17

Blue Cycles SATURDAY Session. 3 Categories available. Open Mens and Womens and Sport Mens. Course is approximately 7 Km in total. Race will be 4 laps of the course.

This year is a brand new course with some great flow and technical sections to challenge riders of all abilities. Keep an eye on our pages as we will have a familiarization social ride of the course at some point.

Race HQ will be at the grassed picnic area.  Entry is online only CLICK HERE to enter Racing starts at 4 PM sharp. Number plate collection from 3 PM Entry is $5 for MTBA/DORC members. Non members are $30 which includes day licence. Entries close at midnight 1/9/2017 don’t delay enter today!!! Early entries make organizing and catering for these events so much easier

*negotiate obstacles with confidence and finesse.
